# AI Setup — External / Non-RT

**For:** public session attendees, partners, clients, and anyone outside the Resonance Tunes team.
**Time:** 15 minutes. **Cost:** about $10 in model credit. **You do not need the RT repo.**
**Running the AI training?** Start with the live page: https://www.resonancetunes.com/training/#setup — it has the four steps, the DeepSeek key, and the `/connect` flow. This file is a deeper reference.

## Done means

opencode answers one prompt, in a folder of your own, and nothing outside that folder changed.

---

## 1. Write your one task

Complete this sentence:

> “I want AI to ______________________.”

Pick one task you already do by hand. Not a whole workflow.

---

## 2. Install opencode

Open Terminal. Paste this line:

```bash
curl -fsSL https://opencode.ai/install | bash
```

Check it:

```bash
opencode --version
```

You should see a version number. If you see `command not found`, close Terminal, open it again, and rerun the line.

---

## 3. Fund and connect a model

opencode is open source. The model is the part that costs money.

1. Open https://platform.deepseek.com and sign in.
2. **Top up $10.** Some accounts show this under **Billing**.
3. Open **API Keys** → **Create new API key**. Copy it — it starts with `sk-` and is shown once.
4. Save a copy in a password manager, then add it to opencode with `/connect`.
5. In Terminal, run:

```bash
opencode
```

6. Type `/connect`, choose **DeepSeek**, paste the key, press Enter.
7. Run `/models` and pick the listed **DeepSeek Flash** entry.
8. Ask: *“Reply with the single word: connected.”*

**If it fails:**

| Message | Fix |
|---|---|
| `Insufficient Balance` | Add credit. The key is fine. |
| Authentication error | The key was copied wrong or deleted. Create a new one. |
| `Model not found` | Run `/models` and pick the entry that is listed. |

**Alternative:** https://openrouter.ai → add $10 under **Credits** → create a key under **Keys** → `/connect` → OpenRouter.

---

## 4. Make a safe folder

```bash
mkdir -p ~/ai-lab
cd ~/ai-lab
opencode
```

Optional write protection: download `opencode-safe-config.json` from
https://www.resonancetunes.com/assets/training/ and save it as
`~/.config/opencode/opencode.json`. It allows reading and searching, allows writing only in
`reports/`, and blocks file deletion.

---

## 5. Do the task

In opencode, type:

```text
I want AI to [your task]. Ask me for anything you need, then do only that.
```

Read the output. Correct it once. Ask for one revision. Stop there.

That is the training. One task is the win.

---

## Optional extras (from the live session)

| Tool | What it adds | Link | Free? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tavily | Web research with sources | https://tavily.com | Free tier |
| Notion | Your notes become context | https://notion.so | Free plan |
| Fathom | Meeting transcript → tasks | https://fathom.video | Free tier |
| Ollama | Private local model | https://ollama.com | Free |
| rclone | Google Drive/Photos sync | https://rclone.org | Free |

None of these are required to complete the training.

---

## Rules

1. **No purchase is required to attend.** The model is the only real cost.
2. **One key per person.** A key is money. Revoke it if a laptop is lost.
3. **Never paste real client, investor, or personal data into a public model.** Use demo data.
4. **Add the key through `/connect`** — that is how opencode gets access.
5. **Nothing here touches the Resonance Tunes repo or servers.**
