Tensegrity

Carlos Castaneda's magical passes and the warrior's recapitulation — movements that redistribute energy in the luminous body and the breathing practice that reclaims what was scattered across a lifetime.

What Is Tensegrity

Tensegrity is the modern term for the magical passes taught by the seers of ancient Mexico — movements discovered in dreaming states and passed through 27 generations of naguals. Carlos Castaneda, the last nagual of his lineage, was instructed to bring these movements into the open before the lineage ended.

Each pass is an intentional gesture that acts on the luminous body — the cocoon of energy that surrounds and interpenetrates the physical body. Where your physical body has bones and muscles, your luminous body has fibers and filaments. When those fibers are tangled, depleted, or scattered, you experience fatigue, confusion, emotional reactivity, and a dulled perception of the world. The passes redistribute energy, clear stagnant pools, and restore coherence.

Castaneda's apprentices — Taisha Abelar, Florinda Donner-Grau, and Carol Tiggs — taught these movements publicly as Tensegrity after his death. The name refers to the tensional integrity of the luminous body: when energy flows freely, the entire structure stands without collapse.

The Luminous Body

Seers perceive humans as luminous eggs — spheres of energy with the physical body at the center. The assemblage point, a spot of intense luminosity on the cocoon, determines which band of emanations is selected for perception. Your entire experience of reality — what you notice, what you feel, what you believe is possible — is a function of where your assemblage point is fixed.

Over a lifetime, the luminous body loses fibers. Every interaction, every wound, every attachment, every unrequited emotion leaves strands of your energy with other people and events. You walk around with holes in your cocoon, slowly dimming.

The two core practices of the warrior's path address this: Recapitulation reclaims the scattered fibers. Magical Passes redistribute what has been reclaimed so the luminous body achieves tensional integrity — tensegrity.

Recapitulation — The Sweeping Breath

Recapitulation is the foundational practice of the warrior's path. Without it, no amount of magical passes or dreaming techniques can build on a depleted foundation. The practice is simple in form and immense in scope: you systematically relive every encounter, every relationship, every moment that took something from you — and you breathe your energy back.

Guided Recapitulation Sessions

Two guided versions of the practice. Use whichever depth calls to you — the first is a full recapitulation immersion. The second is a shorter, structured session for daily practice.

Full recapitulation immersion — guided sweeping breath with the wooden crate framework.

Structured daily recapitulation — shorter session for consistent practice.

"The recapitulation is the act of reliving every experience that has crossed your path, breath by breath, until the luminous fibers that were left behind are retrieved and your energy body is whole."

The Sweeping Breath Technique

1. Prepare the Space

Find a quiet, enclosed space — traditionally a wooden crate or box large enough to sit in, but any quiet room works. The enclosure concentrates your energy and creates a contained environment for retrieval. Dim the light. Sit with your spine straight.

2. Call the Event

Begin at the beginning of your life, or choose a specific relationship to recapitulate. Bring the memory into full sensory detail — the place, the person, what was said, what you felt. Let the memory flood you without resistance.

3. The Inhalation — Reclaim

As you inhale deeply, turn your head slowly from right to left. With the breath, pull every strand of your own energy that you left in that memory back into your luminous body. Feel the fibers returning. The inhalation is the retrieval.

4. The Exhalation — Release

As you exhale, turn your head slowly from left to right. With the out-breath, expel any foreign energy you absorbed from that event — other people's emotions, projections, judgments, expectations that are not yours. The exhalation is the release.

5. Complete the Event

Continue the sweeping breath until the memory no longer carries emotional charge. You will know the event is recapitulated when you can recall it with neutrality — the facts remain, but the hook is gone. Then move to the next memory. One breath at a time. One life reclaimed.

Magical Passes

The magical passes are precise movements discovered by seers in dreaming states. They act directly on the luminous body — scooping, striking, cutting, and smoothing the energy fibers. Each pass has a specific purpose: some gather dispersed energy, some break stagnant pools, some prepare the body for dreaming, some build the container for intent.

Learn the Passes

Three sessions demonstrating the core magical pass sequences. Follow along — the passes are learned through the body, not the intellect.

Core magical passes — foundational movements for energy redistribution and luminous-body coherence.

Advanced pass sequences — deeper energy work and intent cultivation.

Dreaming preparation passes — movements that shift the assemblage point for lucid dreaming access.

Core Pass Categories

The Gathering Pass

Arms sweep outward and scoop energy toward the center of the luminous body. Used to collect scattered fibers before any other pass work. Performed first in every sequence.

The Striking Pass

Sharp, precise movements that break up stagnant pools of energy in the luminous cocoon. The hands act as blades, cutting through energetic congestion that the body has held — sometimes for years.

The Smoothing Pass

After striking, energy can be jagged. Smoothing passes run the hands along the contours of the luminous body, evening out the distribution so coherence is restored — tensegrity is achieved.

The Dreaming Pass

Movements designed to gently shift the assemblage point from its habitual fixation. These passes prepare the body for dreaming attention — the state in which the seers of ancient Mexico accessed the movements themselves.

The Intent Pass

The most subtle of the passes. Intent in Castaneda's lineage is not a mental decision — it is a force in the universe, and the luminous body can align with it. These passes position the fibers to receive and transmit intent with minimal interference.

The Warrior's Path

The recapitulation and the magical passes are not techniques to feel better. They are technologies of freedom. The warrior's path is not about comfort — it is about reclaiming every strand of energy so that nothing outside you holds any piece of you. A warrior is a being who has no loose ends.

Recapitulation is the slow, patient work of retrieving what was lost. The magical passes are the daily practice of keeping the luminous body coherent so that what you reclaimed does not scatter again. Together they create a being of tensional integrity — one who can perceive directly, act impeccably, and meet death as an advisor rather than an enemy.

Tensegrity is a movement and breath practice. It is not a substitute for licensed medical, psychological, or physical therapy. Practice at your own pace, within your physical capacity. The recapitulation can surface intense emotional material — work with a therapist or trusted practitioner if needed.
