Maha Shakti Pranayam

Maha Shakti Pranayam is a meditative Kundalini kriya that cultivates pure consciousness through the breath, working directly with the navel center to activate the flow of shakti — the creative, life-giving power that moves through all existence. "Maha" means greatest. "Shakti" is the primordial creative energy. This practice awakens that force within you.

30-minute guided Maha Shakti Pranayam — a meditative kriya to experience pure consciousness through breath and navel center activation.

The Kriya

Sit in Easy Pose with a straight spine. This is a navel center stimulation practice — Maha Shakti Kriya activates the third chakra (Manipura), the seat of will, power, and action. The practice puts you into action and moves you toward completing your goals. Maha means "greatest." Shakti is the energy — the primordial creative force that manifests all reality.

Call Upon the Maha Shakti — Adi Shakti Mantra

The Maha Shakti mantra — also called the Adi Shakti or Kundalini Bhakti mantra — is a direct invocation of the primal creative power. Taught by Yogi Bhajan as a practice specifically for women to reclaim their own power, it clears obstacles and calls in the protective, manifesting force of the divine feminine. The mantra itself is a transmission: you are not asking for shakti — you are calling it into presence.

AADEE SHAKTEE, AADEE SHAKTEE, AADEE SHAKTEE, NAMO NAMO
SARAB SHAKTEE, SARAB SHAKTEE, SARAB SHAKTEE, NAMO NAMO
PRITHUM BHAGVATEE, PRITHUM BHAGVATEE, PRITHUM BHAGVATEE, NAMO NAMO
KUNDALINI MAAT SHAKTEE, MAAT SHAKTEE, NAMO NAMO

Posture

Sit with a straight spine. Make fists with both hands, index fingers extended and pointing straight up. Elbows are bent and relaxed by your sides. This mudra channels focused shakti through the energy body.

Mantra Meaning

Aadee Shaktee — I bow to the Primal Power. Sarab Shaktee — I bow to the All-Encompassing Power and Energy. Prithum Bhagvatee — I bow to that through which God creates. Kundalini Maat Shaktee — I bow to the creative power of the Kundalini, the Divine Mother Power. Namo — I bow. I call on you.

Practice

Chant or sing the mantra for 11 to 31 minutes. Let the sound vibrate through your chest and crown. Yogi Bhajan said: "Sing it today as a special gesture to the Maha Shakti. Merge in it. This is enough to take away your misfortune. This will carve out of you a woman. Woman needs her own Shakti." The practice is equally powerful for all genders — shakti is not female. Shakti is the creative force itself.

Kriya Yoga — The Technology of Rapid Evolution

Kriya Yoga, as brought to the West by Paramahansa Yogananda and practiced in various lineages, is a systematic method of accelerating spiritual evolution through pranayama (breath control), mantra, and the circulation of life force through the spinal channel. "Kriya" means action — specifically, the action of consciousness moving through the subtle body.

The core premise: breath is linked to mind. By controlling the breath, you control the mind. By circulating prana through the sushumna (central channel), you awaken the dormant potential — kundalini shakti — that lies coiled at the base of the spine. This is not metaphor. It is an energetic technology refined over thousands of years.

Sat Kriya

The foundational Kundalini kriya. Sit on the heels, arms overhead with palms pressed together. Chant "Sat" (truth) while pulling the navel in. Chant "Nam" (identity) while releasing. The navel pump moves prana up the spine. Practice 3-31 minutes. Strengthens the navel center, awakens kundalini, and builds the capacity to hold higher frequencies.

Breath of Fire

Rapid, rhythmic diaphragmatic breathing — equal inhale and exhale through the nose, no pause. Purifies the blood, oxygenates the brain, activates the solar plexus. The fastest way to clear energetic congestion from the subtle channels. Often used as a warm-up before sitting practices.

Spinal Flex (Sufi Grind)

Seated, hands on knees. Inhale as the spine flexes forward, chest open. Exhale as the spine rounds back. Rhythmic, continuous, fluid. Works directly with the flow of cerebrospinal fluid — the physical correlate of kundalini movement. Prepares the sushumna for prana circulation.

Kirtan Kriya (Sa Ta Na Ma)

Considered the highest meditation in Kundalini Yoga. Chant the five primal sounds — Sa (infinity), Ta (life), Na (death/transformation), Ma (rebirth) — in sequence, each paired with a specific finger mudra. This kriya restructures the neural pathways and has documented effects on memory, cognition, and emotional regulation. Practice for 11-31 minutes.

Kundalini Kriya Pranayam

The Kriya set from the Energie Curriculum includes Breath of Fire, Sat Kriya, spinal flex, and supplemental breathing patterns. Pranayama — yogic breathing — is divided into inhalation (puraka), retention (kumbhaka), and exhalation (rechaka). The rhythm of the breath is the rhythm of the mind. Change one, and you change the other.

Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana)

Close the right nostril with the thumb, inhale through the left. Close the left with the ring finger, exhale through the right. Inhale right, exhale left. One round. Practice 5-15 minutes. Balances ida and pingala, left and right hemispheres, parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems. The prerequisite for kundalini awakening — the channels must be clear before the current can rise.

So Darshan Chakra Kriya

An advanced kriya that works with the mantra "Sat Nam Wahe Guru" combined with specific breath patterns and locked arm positions. Builds the arcline (the halo of the 6th body), sharpens intuition, and gives the practitioner the capacity to see reality without distortion.

The Siddhi Path — Cultivating Subtle Capacities

Siddhis are the natural byproducts of advanced practice — capacities that emerge when the pranic channels are clear and the mind is still. Patanjali's Yoga Sutras describe siddhis as both signposts and traps: they confirm you're on the path, but attachment to them stops your progress. The practices on this page are not for display. They are for your own evolution.

Begin with 11 minutes daily of one practice. Commit for 40 days. This is the traditional timeframe for installing a new neural and energetic pattern. Consistency matters far more than duration.

These practices are drawn from the Kundalini Yoga and Kriya Yoga traditions as taught by Yogi Bhajan and the lineages of the Energie Curriculum. They are energy cultivation techniques — not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment. Practice within your physical capacity. Some breath practices are contraindicated during pregnancy, uncontrolled hypertension, or recent abdominal surgery.
